Silver Surfer Movie In Limbo

Writer and producer J. Michael Straczynski has revealed that his planned Silver Surfer movie is currently in a state of limbo.
The producer who is hard at work on a reboot of the classic Forbidden Planet movie has revealed that the studio is hesitant to give a Silver Surfer movie the green light.
“What happened was when FF2 didn’t do as well as they hoped it would do, it caused them to call into question a Silver Surfer movie,” Straczynski told Collider. “The script that I wrote picked up right where FF2 left off. So if they do a Silver Surfer film down the road, it’ll have to be its own separate things.”
Doug Jones who played Silver Surfer in Fantastic Four 2 would reportedly relish the chance to play the role again for the solo turn, and according to JMS it could well still happen.
“There are still a couple of years left on their option for two more pictures with me, as a three-picture deal is quite standard when starting a franchise-potential character. But with all the ‘reboot’ talk of the Fantastic Four, I have no idea where that leaves the Silver Surfer end of things. I would love to revisit this character. I do love Norrin Radd,” he told Itsjustmovies.com.
The Silver Surfer was created by Jack Kirby and first appeared in Fantastic Four #48 in 1966. The character got his own comic book, which ran between 1987 and 1998.

That’s too bad. The Silver Surfer was the only decent thing in FF2.
