Although it’s unlikely for King Kong to make a return to cinema anytime soon. His popularity certainly hasn’t diminished.

According to Digital Spy a recent auction of a King Kong model at Christie’s.

The model, which sold for an impressive $200K was one of the models used during the final scenes of the original 1933 King Kong movie.

Measuring just 55cm, the metal model was once covered in rabbit fur and was manipulated using “stop-motion” animation to depict King Kong as he scaled the Empire State Building in his rampage across New York.

Christie’s representative Neil Roberts said: “This King Kong armature was instrumental in filming one of the most recognisable sequences in cinema history, and as such it is an exceptional relic of film memorabilia.”
