Ownership Dispute Slowing Down Quantum Leap Reboot

Scott_BakulaIt seems to me that there has been plans for a Quantum Leap continuation or a reboot since I first started this website back in May 2001.

However, we’ve not really seen any real action on the plans other than loads of announcements. About the biggest announcement for a rebooted series was made back in 2004 by the Syfy Channel who were still using their original SciFi Channel name back then. Their plan was to have Samantha Beckett the daughter of Sam Beckett go in search of her father. This plan pretty much died a quiet death and lingers in production hell.

Now it turns out that ownership issues are what is preventing a reboot of Quantum Leap. In a recent interview for Moviehole.net Scott Bakula who played Sam Beckett told the website that a Quantum Leap remake will not be happening anytime soon.

“There’s a big, long, complicated paper trail in terms of ownership – it was bought by different studios; Barry Diller bought it… that’s the world of Universal Television. And if Universal TV gets bought, it’ll get even more complicated,” he said.

I had no idea that a Quantum Leap reboot was even under consideration. Hmm.

Just one other thing, how come you guys don’t link to the article of your source? It’s kind of frustrating to click on your links to read the original interview, only to be taken to the homepage of the source and not the article.

Sometimes we do. All were required to do though is link to the website where we got the stories from. Not the actual stories themselves. Though sometimes we do both. Its done on a case by case basis and if we have time.

Thing is this site is run by volinteers and we all do our best to bring news that is as up to date as possible. And when your working on news that focuses on comics, movies, television shows and games. Well were playing in a big well.

So we just do the best we can with the time and resources we have at our disposal.

    Ian
