Spider-Man To Become Father

amspider-manIt seems that we could well be seeing some evolution in the life of the hugely popular Marvel Character Spider-Man.

In a recent interview for Comic Book Resources Marvel Editor and Chief Joe Quesada teased fans that Peter Parker AKA Spider-Man may well be given some parental responsibility as part of Marvels continued attempts to make Spidey interesting again.

The thrice-monthly comic has been undergoing somewhat of a face lift of late, and the recent Brand New Day storyline was Marvels attempt to revitalize Spider-Man by making Peter Parker a Bachelor again.

The second step of Marvel’s plans for Spider-Man came to fruition with the Gauntlet plotline, which served as a means for Marvel to reintroduce some of the classic Spider-Man villains. However, when quizzed about what the third step would be in the Spidy Steps program. Quesada revealed that we may see Spidey become a father.

“Well, I think it’s pretty obvious that MJ is going to be back, so that’s going to open a whole new can of worms with respect to relationships the characters will have or won’t have.

“Should I even say the word ‘baby’? Should I use that word? I’ll just put that out there: Baby. Mary Jane. Baby. Mary Jane with a… yes, baby. I’ll stop there.”

Amazing Spider-Man #614, by Mark Waid and Paul Azeceta, is out on December 9.
