Shatner Gives Up On Fellow Trek Stars

To Cameo Or Not To Cameo? That is the question!
Over the years William Shatner who is loved the world over for his portrayal of Captain James T. Kirk has been on the receiving end of complaints from fellow cast members of Star Trek: The Original series.
Walter Koenig, Nichelle Nichols and George Takei have all expressed themselves about Shatners tendency to hog the limelight. Both Nichols and Takei in their books revealed that Shatner would have entire scenes of the original series re – written so that it was always his character and the two supporting leads that were the main focus.
So it’s fair to say that the original cast members have or have had issues with Shatner at one point or other.
Over the years William Shatner has confessed that he wasn’t aware of any ill feelings toward him from the original cast members and has tried to make amends to the best of his abilities, but in some cases his best hasn’t been good enough.
Last year there was a fair bit of controversy when George Takei and William Shatner aired some of their dirty laundry rather publicly. And when Shatner failed to receive an invitation to the wedding of George Takei and long term partner Brad Altman things came to a head.
In a recent interview for The New York Post Shatner admitted that his feuds with his former cast mates have tarnished his memories of working on the original series, and added that it stung when he failed to receive an invitation to Takei and Altman’s wedding.
Now Shatner has openly quit trying to make amends with the original cast members. And is more than happy to maintain his friendship with Leonard Nimoy, which he salvaged agreeing to mutually never discuss the show.
Shatner told the New York Post: “I’ve asked them numerous times to see if I can assuage their bitterness. I don’t know what their problem is, quite frankly, so I’ve given up on trying to make it better.
“I don’t like any ill-feeling, and if there was something I could do to correct it I would. But nothing seems to work.”
