Great news for fans of Merlin. The BBC have opted to renew the hit Arthurian family drama for a third season.
According to Digital Spy the fantasy based drama, which stars Colin Morgan in the title role has been a big ratings success for BBC One.
BBC controller of drama commissioning Ben Stephenson said of the show: “With its mix of magic, adventure and humour, Merlin is perfect Saturday evening family television, and we are thrilled that Shine Television will be creating a new series for BBC One.
“I’m looking forward to seeing what adventures our popular young wizard, and his friends in Camelot, will go on in series three.”
The second series of Merlin launched earlier this year to a healthy 5.08 million viewers for BBC One and since averaged 5.15 million over its 10-episode run.

Cool! I LOVE this show! I wish we got more British original (not remade for American audiences) TV in the US.

This series has outstanding production values and is visual eye-candy to view, and terrific entertainment to enjoy.
I agree that as a British original series it for some reason captures the imagination more than had it had been produced as an American or Canadian one.
Let us hope it is renewed for many more seasons.
