Shapeshifter’s & Frozen Heads Return To Fringe

Fringe returns to Sky One this week after a one week break, which left me suffering from withdrawal.
This return for Fringe also sees the series return to the main story arc that launched the second season back in the Autumn when we learned that their was a particularly nasty group of shapeshifting entities operating and living fairly openly among us.
The second half of the second season according to SciFiWire will also see a return for the Frozen Head, which we last saw being attached to a body in the early season two episode Momentum Deferred. As those who have been watching already know. The seasons main arc deals with mercury fueled shapeshifters who are stealing frozen heads, while we simultaneously witness Olivia trying to deal with information that she got during her visit to the alternate universe where she met the mysterious Dr. Bell.
So there is lots to look forward too.
“As we get into December, there are more stories about Walter and the character we met at the end of episode 204,” executive producer Jeff Pinkner told SciFiWire. “The character with the little omega symbol on his head whose eyes pop open. He’ll be making an appearance again.”
“By end of the year we reveal more and more as we peel the onion back on what Walter’s participation and responsibility was for the events we were seeing,” said Pinkner. “This season all of our characters are going to potentially learn those truths.”
Season two has been quite a journey for Anna Torv and her character of Olivia Dunham who has had to deal with the after effects of crossing over to the parallel earth, and Pinkner reveals that Dunham will have to open herself up a little more in order to better establish who she can and can’t trust.
“At the beginning of the season she was pretty much dealing with the consequences of crossing over from the other side, and now she gets to focus more on what William Bell warned her about, and she sees that the consequences of those things start to come true. Now she’s going to have to deal with them, and, for the most part, that means she’s going to have to allow herself to be open to what Walter and William Bell did to her as a kid. She’s going to have to allow these inherent abilities of hers to come to the surface so that she can identify and then stop the people who are trying to open up [the] corridor to the other side. And she may fail.”
Fringe airs every Thursday night on Fox Network in the USA and returns to Sky One this Sunday at its regular time of 10pm.
