Tom Waits Up For Role In Hobbit?

Casting is underway on Lord Of The Rings prequel movie’s based on The Hobbit, and according to Total Film Tom Waits is a potential name being talked about for Smaug.

In the story Smaug is the dragon that Bilbo confronts in the climatic moments of the book.

Other potential roles for Waits include Beorn, a dwarf who turns into a bear or Thorin Oakenshield, the dwarf leader.

Waits who is more well known as a singer was last seen in Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium Of Dr Parnassus as the Devil. He will next be seen co – starring alongside Denzel Washington in The Book Of Eli.
