As we are all aware the Tenth Doctor’s song is ending, but the question remains: How will it end for the tenth Doctor?
In the bumper Christmas issue of TV TImes Magazine David Tennant discusses the final two specials and teases us with a few small clues.

However, he still doesn’t reveal if the Master kills the Doctor nor how the Doctor regenerations, but promises that it will be one hell of a show.

“I can tell you it won’t disappoint,” Tennant teases. “It starts with this narration from Timothy Dalton booming out, ‘In the last days of the human race everyone was having bad dreams’”.

This opening narration leads the Doctor to the Planet of the Ood where we learn that the Ood are having oodles of bad dreams. And are calling time on the tenth Doctors existence.

Of course Ood aside. The biggest draw of the two final tenth Doctor episodes will be the Master who we last saw dying in the Doctors arms, but somehow he has returned and has been living on the edge of existence.  If you thought the Master was crazy last time out, you’ve seen nothing yet.

“John Simm, who plays him, is sensational – he just eats the screen up with a feverish intensity. And the Doctor knows he’s dying, so you’ve got all these elements.”

Over the last few years of playing the Doctor. David Tennant has become somewhat of an expert at not giving the plot away, but teasing just enough information to allow the fan frenzied speculation go into overdrive. And its fair to say that despite much prodding Tennant successfully evades dishing out spoilers, but does make fond mention of one of the relationships that gets examination throughout the episodes.

As we all know Bernard Cribbins reprises his role of Wilf Donna Nobles Grandfather, and he is essentially the Doctors companion for the duration of the final two episodes.

“You get these incredible scenes of these two old men together,” says Tennant. “Wilf’s 80 and the Doctor’s 906 and it’s incredibly moving. You see these old boys talking about life and, more specifically, death.”

When it comes to handing the Doctor over to newcomer Matt Smith who will get his first scene in the final moments of the final special. Tennant is hopeful that he is leaving the role in good hands.

“I’m chuffed that we’re handing it over in a healthy state because it means so much to me,” he smiles. “I feel I’ve done right by my eight – year old self and that’s important.”

The two Doctor Who specials will air in the UK on Christmas and New Years Day, and in America they’ll premier on Boxing Day and January 2.
