Fans of Frank Millers 300 will be pleased to know that Miller has a Prequel in mind for the sprawling epic, which told the story of how 300 Spartan’s held out against hordes of Persians at Thermopylae in 480 B.C.

In a recent chat to the LA Times, Miller revealed that the prequel book will be titled Xerxes.

Xerxes will centre on the Battle of Marathon just as the original was set at the Battle of Thermopylae ten years later.

“It’s the battle of Marathon through my lens,” said Miller. “I’ve finished the plot and I’m getting started on the artwork.”

Xerxes I of Persia appeared as the antagonist of 300, leading his forces to victory against the Greeks after his previous defeat at Marathon.

300 spawned a successful film adaptation and there have been rumours that the new comic will also be made into a movie.
