Valkyrie premiere 161208Director Bryan Singer seems to be keeping himself very busy of late. Over the last six months he’s been attached to numerous movie projects, one of which is the new Battlestar Galactica movie.

However, the best news of all for fans of the X-Men movies is that he is to make a return to the franchise, which he played a big part in developing for the cinema and proved that a comic book movie was still possible if done right.

According to Digital Spy Singer revealed he’d signed a deal to do X-Men: First Class at the recent premier event for James Cameron’s new movie Avatar.

“I’m ramping up to do a movie called Jack The Giant Killer at Warner Bros, and I just yesterday signed a deal to do an X-Men: First Class origins picture, which is kind of cool. I’m very excited,” Singer told MySpace.

Gossip Girl creator Josh Schwartz got hired last year to write a script for the Fox blockbuster.

The movie will explore the actual origins of the X-Men and centre on their earlier meetings with Charles Xavier.

Singer directed the first two X-Men movies before handing over directing duties to Brett Ratner for X-Men: The Last Stand. Spinoff movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine debuted in cinemas earlier this year.
