Next Gen Cast Praises Sir Stewart

Patrick Stewart, who played Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation, received the rank of OBE (Officer of the British Empire) “for services to Drama” on January 1, according to Examiner.com.
As reported previously, Stewart was chosen to be knighted by the Queen, who has been rumored to “favor” the actor.
But if there was any chance Stewart would let the honor go to his head, his friends from the Star Trek: The Next Generation cast worked hard in posts at Twitter.com to bring their former captain back to Earth.
LeVar Burton, who portrayed Geordi LaForge in the seven-year television series and four movies, simply said: “Congratulations Patrick, on your Knighthood … !”
However, Wil Wheaton (the actor who played young Wesley Crusher on the Enterprise D) had a different perspective on the matter.
“You know what’s even more wonderful for me than finding out that Patrick is going to be knighted?” he asked. “Finding out from @levarburton.”
But the most interesting reaction came from Brent Spiner, who was the yellow-skinned android Data in the cast.
“Hip hip hooray! Congratulations to my friend, Patrick Stewart,” Spiner stated. “I can’t believe he’s being made King of England!”
Not long after that, the actor revised his comment.
“Guess I wasn’t completely correct about Patrick,” he said. “Apparently he’ll be King of Scotland, Wales and North Ireland, as well.”
And later, Spiner had another comment on the matter.
“Wait, you mean he’s not going to be K … oh. Well, a Knight is good, too, right?” he asked. “Hooray for Sir Patrick! He still lives with the Queen, right?”
