Comics writer/artist Darick Robertson has recently opened up about what fans can expect to see in his latest Conan The Barbarian comic for Dark Horse comics. Which is appropriately titled Conan: The Weight Of The Crown…

Robertson who is best known for co creating The Transmetropolitan is set to both write and illustrate this latest Conan The Barbarian one shot, which is designed to bridge the gap between issues #7 and #8 of Conan The Cimmerian. The story will see the iconic Barbarian succeed the Mad King of Gaul.

“Conan’s a barbarian at the end of the day – you don’t over-think him,” Robertson told MTV. “So Conan takes over, but he’s not really prepared to be a leader at this point.

“He just sees it for what he gets out of it and sees his job as kicking the ass of whoever tries to take the valley, then having a good time. But the problem is, there’s more to leading than kicking ass and having a good time.

“[The Weight Of The Crown] is not a happy story,” he added. “It’s a very sad story, but it’s a poignant one.”
