Could Heroes Survive For A Fifth Season?

Heroes, which was once the greatest thing to hit the genre television landscape. Since. Well the last big thing to hit genre television. Has had its fare share of troubles in recent years, and has gone from having 14 Million viewers a week in its first season four scores and many moons ago, to just scraping by on a mere 6 million viewers.
However, the latest reveals that Heroes may well have been taking survival classes from Gloria Gaynor, because it was revealed this weekend that the series may well survive into a fifth season.
Speaking recently to SciFi Wire Angela Bromstad NBC’s president of primetime television revealed that there maybe hope for the troubled series. In as much as the Network stands ready to hear a pitch from the shows creator Tim Kring for a proposed fifth season.
Fans however, mustn’t get to excited by this new though. Because hearing producers pitch for new seasons of established shows is merely standard operating procedure for Network Television. “They always do,” Bromstad said.
Should the current season be the shows last. Then the last episode will act as the series finale, and it is unlikely given that the show has now wrapped production, that there will be any time or money to shoot extra scenes to round the story out.
Of course, Bromstand couldn’t say where the season finale would leave the heroes in any event. “I can’t give anything away on the Heroes finale.”
Of course NBC now have five extra hours to fill in their weekly slate of programing due to them having to pull the plug on Jay Leno’s talk show. So whether this will help Heroes carry on for a fifth season as yet remains to be seen.
Should it do so. It will be highly unlikely that BBC Two will carry the show in the UK beyond the current season. Given that the BEEB have already announced that this will be their final year carrying the series.

Hey… to each his own. I dislike Chuck, but other people like it. Just because one person thinks its a better show.. others don’t. I am a very passionate fan of Heroes, but I know not everyone is. There are many people who have been devoted to this show since the beginning. These people know a thing or two about loyalty thats for sure! Nothing is ever perfect.

Sara,
I’m actually teasing you a little bit here.
Disagree on Chuck, and Heroes. Well I was into it during the first season. Watched all of the second, which is when it started to lose me, and I even stuck around for all of season three.
It just started to get too predictable for me.
Thing with Chuck though. Is its popcorn television.
The show I’ve stuck with all way through is Lost which ends this year. So I understand where your coming from about loyalty. But to me you have to really continue liking a show in order to stay loyal to it. And sadly with Heroes there haven’t been enough poeple like yourself to make a difference to NBC’s bottom line.
But hey. You never know. NBC now have 5 hours per week of dead air to fill. So maybe that could well snag Heroes an extra season.

Perhaps someone should also tell Neilson and other folks that measure ratings over there to actually take into account those who do not watch live.
