Ciaramello To Play The Riddler In Third Batman Film
Written by Wayne Hall on March 9, 2010 – 11:30 am -Apparently, it pays to read the IMDB website … very carefully.
That’s what Cara did at allieiswired.com, who noticed that a new name had been added to the list of people associated with the “Untitled Batman Project.” Of course, the usual suspects were there, including Christopher Nolan, Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman and Michael Caine. Imagine her surprise when she discovered the roster had increased to include Benjamin Ciaramello, who was now supposed to be playing Edward Nygma aka The Riddler. “There is no rumor status next to the name, so one would deduce that it’s a done deal,” she said.
Discussing previous casting scuttlebutt, Cara noted that “the biggest and constant casting word was that Johnny Depp (or Jude Law) was the main contender for the role of The Riddler.” Obviously, that’s no longer being considered.
The 26 year-old Italian-American actor from the Rhode Island area has played Santiago Herrera on NBC’s Friday Night Lights. He has also appeared in The Guardian, War Of The Worlds, and Filthy Gorgeous.
“Other rumors centered around the role of Catwoman who was rumored to be a sought after role by everyone from Angelina Jolie to Maggie Gyllenhaal,” she continued. “’But Cara,’ you are thinking, ‘Maggie’s character was killed off in the previous film!’ Part of those rumors was that Rachel Dawes would be reincarnated into Catwoman as Maggie was said to have signed a two-film contract, along with Aaron Eckhart, who is also rumored to be making a return as Two-Face.” However, no conclusive word is available regarding those rumors.
“Batman 3” … or whatever it is called … is still in pre-production.
