During the recent Eighth Annual Emerald City ComiCon in Seattle, Washington, panels with creative personnel from DC Comics provided updated information on upcoming comics-to-movie and comics-to-television projects, according to comicbookmovie.com.
For instance, Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns, when asked if the Justice Society of America (JSA) that was recently seen on Smallville would be appearing in other media, responded by revealing that the JSA will actually reappear in that same show towards the end of the season.
Johns also said there is a very, very good chance in response to the possibility of a Green Lantern animated series. He continues to be heavily involved with the upcoming Green Lantern motion picture as well.
Regarding his work in comics, Johns also stated that future Green Lantern storylines will further explore Space Sector 2814, and that the Cowgirl character will once again rise to the fore of the title. He has plans for a variety of new villains, and in response to a fan’s question about how long he plans on staying with the title, he said, “I like to tell big stories, and I’m going to be telling big stories for awhile.”
“Do you have another five-year plan for Green Lantern?” a fan asked, referring to Johns’ previous stories about the character. Johns smirked and said, “It’s a little longer than five years.”
Though not many details were given, a Kid Flash series is still being planned.
Another announcement made during the convention was that Mastadon is doing the musical score for the Jonah Hex film scheduled for release on June 10, according to Ian Sattler, an editor at DC.
In a related story, when Sattler was asked if there were any future DC/Marvel Comics crossovers in the works, he responded that DC is not interested in doing anything with Marvel right now.
