Star Trek Actor Alexander Siddig Joins Primeval

2011 has much for UK Sci-Fi fans to look forward to because Primeval will be roaring its way onto television with a few new cast members, and one such cast member according to SFX Magazine is Alexander Siddig who has signed on for both season’s four and five of the series.

Also joining the cast are Ciaran McMenamin (Silent Witness, Jericho) and Ruth Kearney (Gracie). All three actors will be joining the ARC due to the Government losing faith in Lester’s abilities to run such an expensive and dangerous operation.

The Arc is now under the domain of a public/private partnership, part-owned by the government, and partly by charismatic scientist Philip Burton (Siddig).

McMenamin plays the new team leader Matt who is both a solder and Zoologist, and has an uncanny ability to understand animals.  Matt is described as a private man who carefully guards a mysterious past, which has led him to joining the ARC Team.

Ruth Kearney plays the role of Jess who now runs operations from the ARC Control Centre. Jess is described as highly efficient and has a work ethic that’s second to none, though she is human enough to be nursing a crush on Captain Becker.

Connor (Andrew-Lee Potts) and Abby (Hannah Spearitt) will also be returning, but the fate of Danny (Jason Flemyng) is apparently still up in the air.

Primeval returns to UK Television in 2011 for a further two seasons, which is thanks to a deal between ITV, multichannel broadcaster, UKTV, and producers Impossible Pictures.
