Much-loved genre movie director Guillermo del Toro may have left The Hobbit, but it doesn’t mean that he will stop talking about it.

The director who departed the movie to move onto other projects has recently admitted that he’d like to see Peter Jackson direct the prequel movies.

Speaking to MTV, Del Toro said that Jackson would be the best choice to fill his shoes.

“Me, like any other geek, I really want to see Peter do the movie,” Del Toro explained.

The film maker also added that his decision to leave The Hobbit wasn’t an easy choice.

“It’s a heartbreak for me that I cannot own that work. It is almost like having a partial adoption of children, but you know, it really came to the point where we could not keep postponing [other film and book projects], contractually things went away,” he continued.

He added: “A lot of the stuff started to conflict in very bad ways.”

Del Toro is developing and producing the upcoming Disney 3D movie The Haunted Mansion.
