Synopsis: Mina has a dreadful vision of a winged monster, and starts to fear for Luke’s safety. But Luke doesn’t listen to any of Mina’s warnings because he is blinded by his love for the new girl in his life. Who is not the right girl for him.

Another fairly average episode, and once again a character driven episode, which this time focuses on Luke, and his trying to have a life outside of the smiting business.

The episode starts with Mina having a rather nasty vision and then jumps to Luke and his friend Ruby in the college café chatting and having a bit of a laugh, until a rather attractive blonde girl walks in and catches Luke’s eye. Luke wanting to make the newcomer to his college welcome rather clumsily introduces himself to her and we get treated to a few expositional scenes where Luke gets to know here. Now considering this girl is really a Harpy and out to kill Luke, I thought she played rather hard to get.

Gene whoops am sorry. I mean Rupert Galvin gets work of Luke’s new love interest and asks Ruby to keep an eye on Luke. Of course Ruby follows Galvin’s instructions and rather predictably gets caught in the act by Luke. Promising career in espionage that girl.

After awhile Galvin and Mina tell Luke that they suspect that his new Girl is a Harpy and out to kill him. Luke isn’t having any of it of course and goes out of his way to avoid Galvin and the gang. However he is still suspicious enough to try and expose Harpy Girl on his own and takes a few steps to do so. But she is one or two steps ahead of him and manages to outsmart Luke’s little trap.

Luke eventually finds out about Harpy Girl when he discovers blood dripping from her doorknob and peers through her window to see her in human form moving a dead body. After this Luke called Ruby and gives her I so love her yet she wants to make me into a Harpy Meal speech.

Of course the gang get together and hold one of those meetings where Galvin gives the, ‘Are you sure you want to go through with this speech.’ And Luke says, ‘Yes, from hells heart I stab at thee.’ God if only the dialogue was that good.

Luke and the gang get the Harpy after a somewhat strange encounter in a nightclub at, which Galvin looks out of place. And they pretty much all live to fight another day.

This wasn’t a bad episode, but it wasn’t exactly brilliant either. You kind of feel sorry for Ruby in this. For all but about 30 seconds anyway. Until she gets caught spying on him.

Not bad but not great

Score 7/10

Oh and in case you’re wondering. I don’t think they do Harpy Meals at McDonalds.
