Torchwood Moves On From The Loss Of Tosh & Owen

Eve Myles as Torchwood's Gwen Cooper
In a recent interview for SciFi Now Eve Myles who plays the role of Gwen Cooper in the hit Brit – Fi series Torchwood talked a little about the forthcoming third season, which will take the form of a five part mini series titled Children Of Earth.
In the interview Eve revealed that some time has passed between the tragic events, which closed out the second season of the show.
“Time has passed, so we’re moving on. I think what happened with losing two big characters at the end of the last series is that it proves that it’s even more of a dangerious place to work then we thought it was.
“Anybody could go at any point, so the Tosh and Owen characters are huge symbols this year that this is a very dangerious world. It’s very clever how the grieving process has worked out, actually, because there were moments in the Doctor Who episode and in the CERN radio drama we did [Lost Souls] where the grieving process had developed. This time it’s about something completely different, although there are still some beautiful elements in there. There’s a beautiful moment where the pictures are still there and Gwen says good morning to them every morning, so they’re still a very strong symbol of life and death in Torchwood.”
When asked to quickly give a run down of the fourth season Myles teased readers with some pretty big promises.
“They can expect to see the Torchwood heroes becoming even more heroic. They’ll see devastation, but they’ll also see a huge bit of comedy and the best Torchwood that we’ve ever produced to date. They’re going to get it all, and I dare anybody not to enjoy it.”
You can read much more of what Eve Myles had to say about the new series with additional comments from director Euros Lyn in the new issue of SciFi Now, which is out now.
Torchwood is expected to premiere at some point in June on BBC 1, however an actual air date is yet to be confirmed.

All I will say is. Thanks for the corrections. I knew what it was. Just must have been a little over tired when I rushed that one off. I mean fourth season, maybe I fancied myself as a fortune teller. I suspect it just feels like I’ve been waiting for a fourth season. Given that they could have shot the fourth season give the amount of time that has passed since the season two finale.
I also watched the movie Children Of Men last night, so that was probably rattling around in my head when I wrote the piece.

Thanks Raissa,
And this news doesn’t really surprise me, given that Doctor Who also enjoys a life on radio, as well as on big finish.
