The Man Behind Comic-Con: Shel Dorf

Last summer while my elderly mother clung to life in a drug-induced coma – over-medicated from pain medication after surgery to replace a broken hip – her dear friend, Shel Dorf, rested peacefully a few floors down as he awaited dialysis treatment for his failing kidneys. With my heart and mind on my mother, all I could do was send Shel an email with well wishes. He didn’t want visitors and only spoke to others through his close friend.
Shel Dorf never left the hospital.
Little could I have guessed that the man whose brainchild was the Golden State Comic Convention with less than 200 attendees (later to become Comic-Con International with over 125,000 annually) would pass away peacefully several months later and my mother survive to meet and hug her first and only grandchild, Daniella.

Stan Lee Will Appear On ‘Eureka’

When you’ve conquered the comics industry and made numerous appearances in movies, what’s a creative person like Stan Lee to do?
Apparently, you do a cameo appearance on Syfy’s hot series Eureka, according to sliceofscifi.com.
Lee announced on Twitter recently that he was traveling to Vancouver to appear on the show. He said that he hopes now that the news is out that producer and friend Jamie Paglia will “give me more than one little line to say.”

Radical Publishing And Full Clip Productions Announce Imprint Deal

Radical Publishing and Full Clip Productions are proud to announce that they have entered into an imprint deal. Under this agreement, Full Clip Productions, the company headed by actor Sam Worthington and his partners Michael Schwarz and John Schwarz, will develop intellectual property to be produced under the Radical banner. Worthington and John Schwarz will star in the film adaptations of select projects.
