Fox Cancels Dollhouse

It’s a sad, but not surprising, day for Joss Whedon fans everywhere. Fox, the network that tore our hearts out by crushing Firefly, has canceled Dollhouse.
“Yes. Canceled. Sad but true,” tweeted Maurissa Tancharoen, Dollhouse writer, who is also married to Whedon’s brother, writer Jed Whedon.
The sci-fi series, which seemed to defy the odds when it was picked up for a second season despite low ratings (and yet marked increase in viewership when counting DVR and other viewing sources), is expected to finish it’s 13-episode run with an ending that will satisfy viewers.

Whedon Explains His Terminator Bid

Yesterday, Joss Whedon posted a message on Whedonesque.com indicating his interest in purchasing the Terminator franchise for $10,000. The question raised by people, amused by his suggestions that he do a Terminator of the Rings and give Christian Bale a throat lozenge, has been “Is he serious?”
Whedon addressed that question today in an EW phone interview asking him if he was just being funny, or was he making a bid for the franchise by way of being funny.
“What do you mean, funny?! You think $10,000 is funny?!” was Whedon’s initial response.

Whedon Vies for Terminator Franchise

In An Open Letter to the Terminator Owners. From a Very Important Hollywood Mogul, Joss Whedon has expressed his interest in taking over the Terminator franchise.
The letter, posted by Whedon today on Whedonesque.com, says “I have heard through the ‘grapevine’ that the Terminator franchise is for sale, and I am prepared to make a pre-emptive bid RIGHT NOW to wrap this dealio up. This is not a joke, this is not a scam, this is not available on TV. I will write a check TODAY for $10,000, and viola! Terminator off your hands.”
The letter, in response to the news that the Terminator franchise is up for sale, continues to say “The Terminator story is as formative and important in our culture — and my pretend play — as any I can think of. It’s far from over.”
