Next Star Trek film release date set
Written by John Freeman on January 18, 2010 – 10:12 am -Paramount has announced the sequel to last summer’s Star Trek will launch 29th June , 2012, putting the release just ahead of the always-lucrative 4th July weekend in the US.
There are still no plot details, although speculation is rife that the creators of this new Star Trek timeline will plunder the original for ideas, such as new take on the genetic superman Khan Noonien Singh first seen in the original series episode Space Seed. However, perhaps because screenwriters Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, who penned the original, who are working on the script with Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof, want to keep their options open, the planned tie-in Abrams Trek-verse novels have been shelved by Pocket Books?
J.J. Abrams is producing the film, but has yet to confirm he will direct.
The latest Star Trek film earned $385 million worldwide at the box office..
