Fan Film Friday: Star Trek Phase II: World Enough and Time

World Enough And TimeI remember when a friend told me about Star Trek: New Voyages a few years ago. At first, I was less than thrilled about the concept of recasting the original Enterprise crew, but the prospect of having new Classic Trek to watch was just too enticing for me to pass up.

Since then, a number of other fan projects have come along, from Starship Exeter, which has been caught in a time warp between acts of its second episode, to Starship Farragut, which recently released its first animated venture.

Still, New Voyages was the first I knew that ventured this new frontier, and I’ve been following their progress for years. After featuring Walter Koenig in a Chekov-themed, “To Serve All My Days,” it seemed natural for “World Enough and Time,” which focused on Hikaru Sulu and had a “fascinating” story as well

When entering Romulan space while responding to a distress call, the Enterprise was surrounded by three Romulan ships (reminiscent of the “The Enterprise Incident”). Though his ship managed to destroy most of the attackers, one of the remaining vessels caused a temporal anomaly that would soon take out the Enterprise as well.
