Syfy Channel To Bring 21st Century Spin To Classic Fairy Tales
Written by Ian Cullen on February 2, 2010 – 10:00 am -The Syfy Channel in recent years have both shocked and amazed audiences with re-workings of The Wizard Of OZ (Tin Man) and last years re-imagination of the classic Lewis Carol story Alice In Wonderland (Alice), and it looks like the cable channel, which re-invented itself last year is looking to expand from mini series to television movies.
In an announcement made yesterday. The cable channel announced plans to do televiison movies based on classic fairly tales, and they will start with their modern take on Beauty and the Beast on Feb. 27, followed by re-imaginings of Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel, Aladdin and other stories.

New York, NY – February 1, 2010 — Syfy announced today it is adding a new Saturday Original Movies genre to its popular mix, re-imagining classic fairy tales, legends and pop culture characters — from Little Red Riding Hood, Aladdin and Sinbad the Sailor to Hansel and Gretel — beginning with the premiere of Beauty and the Beast on Saturday, February 27, at 9PM (ET/PM).

New Stephen King Show To Haunt Syfy

It looks like Syfy are to receive a dose of Stephen King with a new series, which is titled Haven.
This new series centres on a group of cursed people who live in exile in a small town in Maine. When FBI Agent Audrey Parker moves in to keep Supernatural elements at bay. She fast gets sucked into unraveling many of the small towns hidden mysteries.
This new show sees a reunion of sorts for producers Scott Shepherd, Lloyd Segan and Shawn Piller who all worked on the popular Dead Zone television series for USA Network. Shepherd will act as the series main showrunner with Lloyd Segan.
In there report SciFiWire revealed that Sam Ernst and Jim Dunn are to write the pilot episode and will also serve as producers for the series, which has an order of 13 episodes.
