Some Memories From People Who Worked With DeForest Kelley

As a part of our tribute to the Late DeForest Kelley we have all been trying to chase people down who had at some point in their lives worked with the late actor. Below is a collection of memories from some of the people who have worked with DeForest Kelley.

Bob Justman Shared this thoughts about Deforest Kelley while I spoke with him at the Roddenberry.com chat a week ago. Bob said the following about De: "He always played 'Heavies' but wasn't successful until he played a good guy. Just like he really was."

I also got this really nice quote off of Walter Koenig while in last weekends Roddenberry chat with the actor. Koenig shared the following with the chat room about his friend: "I always found him to be a warm and supportive friend who everyone liked and respected. He was the proverbial good guy who was uniformly appreciated by all."

Jack Stauffer Of 'Battlestar Galactica' and 'All My Children' shared these thoughts with us. "D.Kelly was one of the nicest people I ever met. We actually lived about 2 blocks from each other for 25 years. We used to stop and schmooze in the grocery store. When I first got to LA one of my first jobs was to star in one of ABC's first Afternoon movies. It was a god awful thing about my wife dying in the hospital and I was suing the doctor and I spent the hour and a half weeping and screaming about this and that. D played my lawyer. He helped me immensely. I didn't like the script or the director who wanted me to part one way and wouldn't listen to my ideas about how I thought the part should be played. This lack of creative cooperation was contrary to everything I had learned on AMC where we were encouraged to be creative. D got me through the show."
