In issue 103 of Dreamwatch magazine. Roving reporter Sharon Gosling caught up with the cast of Stargate SG1 on the set, and discussed among many other things character development.

One of the many highlights that is already in the works for the new series which will premier in the fall of 2003. Is the re-introduction of Michael Shanks best known to fans of the series as Daniel Jackson. No one is more pleased about Shanks returning to the cast than General Hammond portrayed by Don S. Davies.

"I think the show will be stronger," said Davies about the return of Michael Shanks. "The chemistry between him and the cast - I'm in no way diminishing Corin [Nemec, Jonas Quinn] but that chemistry hasn't been established yet."

One of the strongest supporting characters of SG1 has been none other than Dr. Janet Fraiser, portrayed by Canadian actress Teryl Rotherly, who said she would like to see Fraiser get in on some of the action this year. "If someone would say, 'Okay, what's your wish for season seven?', it would be that Fraiser gets to go off - base more," states Rotherly. "Certainly, the show is about the main four that travel through the gate and bring back knowledge, but it would be great if I was able to just go out with them. It would make a nice change!"

One cast member happy to be returning for the seventh series is Amanda Tapping, who amid numerous offers of work has returned in her role of Major Carter. "It's a complicated thing for an actor," she replies when asked how happy she is to be returning. "Because you kind of want to move on - but by the same token, oh my God! Look at this family! We see each other all the time, we've travelled halfway around the world together. We are each other's security. I don't have any sisters, so Tito [her pet name for Teryl Rothery] is my sister." This comment by Tapping causes Rothery to emit a shriek and launch her self across the table at her co-star.

Further comments from Don S. Davies, Teryl Rothery, Amanda Tapping and Corin Nemec can be found in the complete on set report in the new issue of Dreamwatch magazine that is out in all good newsagents now.
