Jack Bauer is passing the stopwatch and someone new will be taking on the race to save the world from terrorist threats both foreign and domestic in 24 hours or less.
The new spin-off series for ’24,’ which has been green lit by Fox is to centre on a new male character, whose story is yet to be revealed.
According to TV Line this new series will have a younger hero who is being described as a twenty something terrorist hunter. This does not mean however that Jack Bauer will be out of the picture. Fox’s intention is to have Jack to return to the show every so often when it serves the story to have him there.
’24’ creator and head writer Howard Gordon confirmed the new series at the weekends Critics Choice Television Awards.
The project would find the new male antihero working alongside an older, more seasoned female agent (not Yvonne Strahovski’s Kate Morgan, although she also may appear). It would also launch as a limited series, similar to last year’s acclaimed 24: Live Another Day, but I’m told the offshoot could easily become a long-term property for Fox.
24: LAD vets Manny Coto and Evan Katz will serve as writers and EPs.
