It is with great enthusiasm and unbridled anticipation that we at Sci Fi Pulse are honored to report that a new day in the online Cosplay genre is emerging with the addition of Ivette Maldonado and Michael Colon to SciFiPulse’s editorial team.
The Husband and Wife Cosplay team of Ivette & Mike will report on all things Cosplay from a first-hand, boots on the ground perspective ranging from Cosplay convention appearances to miscellaneous Cosplay event coverage along with Photo essays, as well as individual and even family Cosplayer coverage & more!
Both Ivette and Mike will represent Sci Fi Pulse as Cosplay Reporters/Editors, with both covering and even participating in Cosplay events as well as providing special photo shoots dealing with everything and anything within the world of Cosplay within Central Florida and beyond.
Ivy started Cosplaying in 2010, while Mike started becoming interested primarily in Cosplay photography the same year, but Mike has does indeed Cosplay as well. He admits that he doesn’t do anywhere near as much Cosplay as Ivy does, but beginning in about 2011Mike has been known to come out from behind the camera and do some mean Cosplay right alongside his wife and family.
But even more fun from a personal perspective is the fact that their children also started to Cosplay beginning in 2013 at Central Florida’s very own MegaCon. And as we at Sci Fi Pulse like to say, “The Family that Cosplays together stays together!”
Both Ivy and Mike love Cosplay but admittedly sometimes come at it from slightly different perspectives. “You can dress up and act like your favorite character and customize it in our own style. So you can be someone else when you Cosplay.” says the Cosplaying Mom of two, Ivy.
Mike on the other hand says, “I love the research and the creation of the costume. How everything starts from nothing until it becomes the final work is really a lot of fun for me.”
Mike also likes all of the new people he gets to meet from so many different backgrounds and he especially likes how Cosplayers will usually come together to help and support each other. But what Mike really seems to have a passion for is recreating scenes through his photography for many of Ivy or Mike’s favorite characters from the comic book and movie genres.
While Cosplaying as her favorite characters is a passion of Ivy’s, both sides of this dynamic Cosplaying Husband & Wife team strives to create original art which manifests creative vision through her Cosplay and/or his photography, if not both when they are working together. But this passion is not just limited to their own work together, but also encompasses their work with so many other Cosplayers both local and otherwise.
This creative team loves the experience of making costumes and taking pictures with other Cosplayers as well as taking part in as many different kind of Cosplay events as time allows their busy married and work schedules.
If not visiting different Cosplay Groups you might also see Ivy and Mike at a Hero themed event to celebrate and support Free Comic Book Day. Ivy & Mike will most likely even report on particular Star Wars Day Cosplay events for May 4th of every year, and as always followed with Ivy & Mike’s ongoing social media commentary.
SciFiPulse believes that Ivy & Mike’s practitioners and followers might really love with Ivy & Mike’s blogging-like social media coverage of their very col Cosplay Costume Creation Sessions (commonly referred to as CCCS’s).
Ivy and Mike think that Cosplay itself will keep growing and continue to open new and different doors for people being passionate about the heroes, movies and genres they all love in their own individual ways.
Most recently Mike and Ivy worked on Cosplay at Geekfest Florida and Collective Con, with their next event this coming weekend being MegaCon 2016, which begins Thursday May 26 through Sunday May 29, 2016.
2016’s MegaCon will be Super-team Ivy & Mike’s first outing as SciFiPulse Cosplay Editors/Reporters. They plan on covering MegaCon’s special Cosplay photo-shoots such as the Marvel and the DC shoots along with the SpiderVerse group shoot.
Convention attendees seeking a more diverse cross genre collection of party-going, stunning and creative Cosplayer infused after show, might even bump into Ivy and Mike working as undercover intergalactic reporters in the service of the Unofficial MegaCon AfterParty by Moshi Moshi Productions.
MegaCon 2016 is going to be a great deal more fun for so many more fans of Cosplay now that Ivy & Mike will be commenting on their adventures within the world of Cosplay!
