DC @ SDCC 2018: The Movies

Glory be! I’m actually psyched for all three of these DCU movies. The panels were high energy, and the two new trailers are spectacular.

Unfortunately, there wasn’t much footage from the Wonder Woman 1984 panel, because Gal Gadot, Patty Jenkins, and Chris Pine wanted the rough cut scene they brought after only three and a half weeks of shooting to be a treat for attendees. Beyond that, though, the panel is worth seeing for Pine’s family connection to the original live-action Steve Trevor and Jenkins’ discussion of why the film is set in 1984.

Next, we have the new trailer and panel for SHAZAM! The Hall H panel featured star Zachary Levi and director David F. Sandberg, as well as young co-stars Jack Dylan Grazer, and Asher Angel. Levi is a pig in mud — absolutely born to play a kid in a man’s body with super powers. Additionally, Angel is going to be the perfect Billy Batson.

Last, but certainly not least, we have an epic new trailer for Aquaman and a surprising panel in which Yahya Abdul-Mateen II admitted he had to take swimming lessons while filming and Amber Heard admitted she didn’t like getting wet. Fellow panelists Jason Momoa, Nicole Kidman, James Wan, and Patrick Wilson laughed with them and told stories about the insane amounts of wire work.

Raissa Devereux became a life-long genre fan at the age of four when she first saw The Wizard of Oz at a screening at Arizona State University. Years later, she graduated from A.S.U. as an English major, History minor, Whovian, and Trekkie. Now a Florida transplant, she loves the opportunity Sci-Fi Pulse has given her to further explore space travel, time travel, masked heroes, gothic castles, and good yarns.
