It looks like the vampire Lestat could be returning to movie theatre’s around the world and one person that has been linked to direct a rebooted version of Anne Rice’s ‘Vampire Chronicles’ is Josh Boone.
According to The Wrap. Boone who is fresh from his success with ‘Fault In Our Stars’ is seriously being looked at with a view to resurrecting Vampire Lestat de Lioncourt in a brand new movie series.
Brian Grazer, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are producing the project, after Universal and Imagine Entertainment acquired the rights to all existing and future books in the series.
This latest deal also includes the adapted screenplay for ‘The Tale of the Body Thief,’ written by the author’s son Christopher Rice.
The first film is most likely to be based on ‘The Vampire Lestat’ as apposed to Anne Rice’s first and most famous Vampire Chronicles novel ‘Interview with the Vampire,’ which was adapted into a movie starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt back in the 90’s.
Given that Vampires seem to rule the roost on television and movies of late. It’s hardly surprising that Hollywood is having a second bite out of the ‘Vampire Chronicles’ cherry, which is no surprise given that most of your modern vampire shows and movies owe so much to how Anne Rice reinterpreted the vampire for modern times.
