Despite their recently rebooted ‘Fantastic 4′ movie sinking faster than the titanic at the US and International Box Office. Fox are insistent that they are “committed’ to the characters from ‘Fantastic 4.’
The new film – which stars Miles Teller, Jamie Bell, Kate Mara and Michael B Jordan – opened to just $26.2 million (£16.8m) in North America, despite forecasts of $40-50m (£26-32m).
Things weren’t any better internationally where the movie only managed $34.1m (£21.9m) in 43 markets, bringing the film’s global total to $60.3m (£38.8m).
Fox’s domestic distribution chief, Chris Aronson, said (via The Hollywood Reporter): “While we’re disappointed, we remain committed to these characters and we have a lot to look forward to in our Marvel universe.”
While Fox haven’t said outright that there will be a sequel in 2017. This is the strongest hint that the studio hasn’t given up the ghost with Marvels first family.
