Although it was said awhile back that a ‘Game Of Thrones’ spin-off series wouldn’t be happening. It hasn’t stopped speculation nor has it stopped the shows writers from teasing us with the possibilities.
Back in April, HBO boss Michael Lombardo said he couldn’t imagine any kind of follow-up if “it were not driven by” GoT showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss.
It now looks like Benioff and Weiss are warming to the idea.
In a recent interview for the UFC Unfiltered podcast the writing team quite happily discussed some of the possibilities for a spin-off to the HBO juggernaut that is ‘Game Of Thrones’.
“One of the great things about what George [RR Martin] did is he didn’t just build a story… he built a world,” they enthused.
Although at present it is just talk. The only certainty right now is that if a spin-off does happen. It will not be until after 2018 when ‘Game Of Thrones’ concludes.
“We just haven’t had time to really think through the details of it, because we’re so focused on just getting the show made.
“This is such a 24-hour-a-day job. Once we start thinking about [any spin-off], we realise we have other things that are immediately pressing that we need to be thinking about!”
The games will continue when the series returns to HBO and Sky Atlantic in 2017. As previously reported the next series will premier a little later than its usual April start date. Now if someone can kindly hold the door until then. We’d much appreciate it.
