Synopsis: In a special one-off event, delve into the secret history of one of Marty McFly’s most persistent pests, Needles! What made that kid into the troublemaker we all know and despise?
Review: Coming fresh off the last story arc is this one shot story, which takes a look at the origins of Needles and reveals how he and Marty first met.
The story by Bob Gale and John Barber explores the early meeting of Marty and Needles and how their relationship pretty much developed. Marty being a play by the rules sort of kid and Needles a rule breaker and petty crook.
The story pretty much reveals Needles to be a kid who pretty much has everything except parents that care for him.
This I feel is not really a necessary story given that the ‘Back To The Future’ series has always been centred on the relationships between Marty, Doc Brown and Biff. For me Needles was always a miner player in the films. His high point being in the second movie. When he goaded Marty and got him fired.
I think a more interesting character to have done an origin on would have been Biff given that he is the main bully of the film series.
Art wise Emma Viecelli pretty much nails the characters as their younger selves and the colours are really nice.
As a regular reader of this series. I’m hoping that this is truly a one shot because I’d like to get back to the time travelling.
