This past Sunday’s Fear the Walking Dead episode entitled, ‘So Close Yet So Far’ on AMC was a great second episode in Robert Kirkman’s spin off series to the hugely successful ‘The Walking dead’, which is based on the original comic series from Image Comics and Kirkman’s Skybound imprint.
This week’s episode concentrated on showing the somewhat gradual progression of society’s collapse in the face of the approaching zombie apocalypse onslaught, with only a few citizens truly beginning to understand the implications of what seems to be suppressed by both the media and the authorities.
This episode showed a few more zombies than last week’s pilot episode and it would seem that the zombie infestation will in the very near future reach its climax as civilization will indeed begin to crumble all around Madison (Kim Dickens) and Travis’ (Cliff Curtis) first and second families.
In truth it seems that some of the fun for viewers of the zombie apocalypse is precisely the ending of civilization and seeing how fast those things we all take for granted on a daily basis can be taken away easier than we all realize.
By the end of ‘So Close Yet so Far’ we see people beginning to not only watch out for themselves in the face of the approaching zombie onslaught, but the viewer is also getting a taste of just how people can get caught up in the madness as they will begin to potentially become just as dangerous as the zombies most L.A. residents do not even realize they need to fear.
So keep those seat belts strapped tight as the real zombie infested apocalyptic fun is just around the corner!
