Synopsis: Moondragon is a hero. With her wife at her side, she came to our reality from a dimension of heroes – to save us all from evil. But our reality already had a Moondragon, and she can’t be a hero all the time. The DRAGON OF THE MOON has returned…and it won’t leave until it’s fed on a soul. Didn’t we say it could always get worse?

The Story

This issue concludes the current arc and focuses on the two Moondragon’s as they figure out their differences, Gamora, Drax, and the Prince have to contend with Hercules. Meanwhile, Castor Gnawbarque II’s plans are foiled as Mr. O’Hear fails in his mission to kill Rocket Racoon thanks to some help from Groot.

The Artwork

Juann Cabal gets to draw plenty of action, which includes Mr. O’Hear aiming at Rocket Racoon through his gun sights and a fantastic confrontation between Gamora and Hercules, which builds up to an absolute rollicking battle between Hercules The Prince of Power when Gamora refuses to kill him. The art detailing the ongoing conversation between the two Moondragon’s is really well handled and I loved how it was concluded.

Overall

This was a fairly good story arc, but I did miss Starlord, who was sadly killed off when he sacrificed himself to save Hercules, which plays out somewhat as a pretty good plot point in this issue as Hercules has to talk Gamora down. I loved the suspense and tension of Mr. O’Hear’s attempts to shoot Rocket Racoon. The ongoing radio chatter between O’Hear and Gnawbarque was lots of fun as was the sequence in which Groot spoils the party.

The art of the fight between Hercules and the Prince of Power was really well handled. Hercules dialogue had me hearing the voice of Nigel Green who played the role of Hercules in the 1963 version of ‘Jason and the Argonauts’, which is still well worth a watch to this day.

Thankfully the end of the book sees the two Guardian teams end their rivalry, but I can’t see the way back being an easy one for them.
