Synopsis: Robert has no wish to find the monster that is killing wealthy young men, but the trail is too compelling to resist. It leads him to a fight with a beautiful vampire who shocks him with the news that she is his sister.
Review: This series continues to develop its arc with a few more surprising twists and turns, but with no word on whether or not we’ll see a second year for the show… could it be to little to late.
Moving forward from events seen in last weeks episode Robert is still after his records from Sir Roger Bulstrode, but Bulstrode has been bullied by the home secretary and has gone back on his word. This leads to a somewhat brief stand off between Robert and Bulstrode, but when Roberts Jekyll switches to Hyde. The smell of another Hyde grabs his attention and proved to overpowering for him to resist.
This leads to an unexpected meeting with a sister that he has forgotten he ever had. It turns out that the two were separated and his sister who has been posing as a vampire was raised by Tenebre and Captain Dance.
Meanwhile while all of this is happening Tenebre are continuing their attempts to try and re-animate Captain Dance and in order to do this they plan to release the Morali, which is a kind of eel type thing that feeds off of human being and gathers their energies.
The result of these Morali’s being released soon has implications for Robert and his friends because it turns out that Roberts half brother who was infected by the parasite in last weeks show is still connected to Tenebre and is seeing elements of their plans in his nightmares.
All this comes to a head and Robert and his half brother Ravi go on the hunt for these parasites and plan to follow them.
This was a fairly packed episodes with a lot of narrative shifts that develop Bulstrode and show him to be even more manipulative than we ever dared believe. Even more shocking is the reveal that Robert’s girlfriend is not as innocent and in the dark about Roberts true nature than we have believed her to be.
Although this episode did have a lot of reveal. I found the pacing to be a little slow and my attention was wondering a little bit, which is never a good thing.
It will be interesting to see how all this will unfold in the final two episodes, which will be shown this coming Sunday.
