Synopsis: It’s a battle against mercenary and monster to reverse the rot and restore Mother Forest! Now, Sheena must escape the explosive ruins of Caldwell’s lab, navigate a literal minefield of danger, and return what is left of the temple of the First People, all while protecting her friends from man and beast determined to stop them—but the ghosts of Sheena’s long forgotten past have woken, bringing with them old enemies…
Review: With Caldwell’s complex now destroyed. It falls upon Sheena and her friends to stop the rot and do all that they can to protect mother forest. But it looks like that job will still have its challenges as Harrison Caldwell and his men have managed to escape as well.
This is another fantastic issue, which gives us a little more insight into Sheena and her role as the protector of the Forest. Additionally, we also see the return of Sheena’s grandmother who sees all outsiders as the enemy and comes into conflict with Sheena about her friend Chano.
The artwork from M.L. Sanapo is really good in this issue. Especially the opening few pages where we see Sheena and her friends getting themselves clear of the debris that was once Caldwell’s jungle complex.
This issue closes out on what could potentially be a huge twist and somewhat of a reveal concerning Harrison Caldwell and the loss of his child in a particular plane crash and their true identity.
Overall. This was a fantastic issue, which saw a few confrontations as well as a couple of reveals. Writers Marguerite Bennett and Christina Trujillo continue to feed us enough clues about the story and plot to keep us interested while providing some nice dialogue between the various characters. I love that Sheena was put into a position where she had to stand up for Chano.
I look forward to next months issue where I am sure we’ll learn a lot more.
