Synopsis: Past and present collide as Sheena goes up against the formidable huntress! Long forgotten secrets of Sheena’s past are revealed while, across the forest, the mysterious head of Cadwell Industries readies himself to take revenge against Sheena by targeting the one she holds most dear…
Review: M.L. Sanapo continues to provide some stunning artwork for this comic and a highlight of this issue is Sheena’s epic meeting with her grandmother on page 8. The way in which Sanapo manages to convey so much with Sheena’s facial expression cut back on the need for words.
Of course, Sanapo would have a tough job it if were not for some marvelous story beats by writers Marguerite Bennett and Christina Trujillo. The reveal of Sheena’s Grandmother, who is initially thought to be the enemy that has been poisoning mother forest is handled wonderfully well. I loved the backstory that this huntress provides to Sheena about how her mother was taken from the forest by outsiders and made to forget about her life in the Amazon.
Of course, this all leads back to Cadewell Industries who are not quite finished with their plans for the Amazon and will seemingly stop at nothing to get what they want. We also get to meet the head of Cadewell Industries who is not too pleased with how things have been going.
Overall. This was another solid issue with some awesome story beats and great artwork. I can’t wait for the next issue to see what it all goes. Plus I’d love for us to be able to get to know Sheena’s Grandmother a little more. She makes a big impression on this issue and hopefully will stick around for awhile in forthcoming issues. We get left with an excellent cliffhanger, which could well potentially be history repeating itself.
