Synopsis: After their encounter with the deadly Borg, Captain Kirk and the crew of the U.S.S. Endeavour face an uncertain future… and a powerful new threat to the Federation!

Review: Mike Johnson continues to explore the adventures post Star Trek Beyond and this sixth issue sees Kirk and his new crew encounter a White Hole as well as meet a new alien species of inter dimensional beings, who have been studying humanity for some time.

The issue also sees Sulu being promoted to Kirks first officer and we learn that the crew managed to save Sulu’s husband and daughter.

This first part of a new three part arc was pretty entertaining in and of itself, but feels like more of a stand alone story given how the issue ends. Which means it will be interesting to see what happens when we pick the story back up in the next issue.

The art work by Chris Mooneyham is serviceable at best, but it doesn’t really stand out as particularly spectacular or unique. In some panels Kirk looks like he’s aged a good 10 – years since we saw him last in Star Trek Beyond.

I am still enjoying Johnson’s story telling and particularly enjoy that he is picking up Lt Vallas’s story up from where things left off. With her imprisoned on Romulus.

In fact the final page of the story sees the Tal Shiar looking to recruit her, which could make for an interesting side story. I’m kind of hoping she joins.
