IN REVIEW: STAR WARS: THE MANDALORIAN (S2 – E4) CHAPTER 12 – The Siege

Siege

Synopsis: In The Siege. The Mandalorian rejoins Greef Karga and Cara Dune for a mission to rid their new home of Stormtroopers.

The Story

Picking up from where last week left off. Flying toward Ahsoka Tano’s location. Din Djarin decides that his ship is not going to make the journey. So in order to get proper repairs done, he takes The Child back to Navarro. As he lands Din Djarin meets Greef Karga and Cara Dune. Greef immediately orders his repair teams to fix Din Djarin’s ship while they go off to conduct their business.

Greef and Cara ask Din Djarin to help them on a mission. The job involves laying Siege on an old imperial outpost that is on the planet and blow it up. The objective is to get rid of any remaining imperial squatters.

The Acting

Carl Weathers who also directed the episode puts in a great performance as Greef Karga. Since we last saw Greef he has taken on more responsibility and seems to be trying to Govern Navarro as a peaceful township, which now has a school among other things. Also great was Gina Carano as Cara Dune who seems to have a renewed purpose on Navarro. If truth be told. It was just great seeing Din Djarin reconnect with these characters given their shared history. We also see a return for Horatio Sanz as the little blue alien Mythrol who provides a bit of humor.

Overall

This was a solid episode with some nice action setpieces. I loved the chase at the close of the story and the final few moments where Din Djarin shoots down 3 Tie Fighters in his newly repaired ship. The Child has a few fun and cute moments. One being where he uses the force to steal another child’s biscuits. Another is where he pukes. The episode ends with a scene onboard Moff Gideon’s ship which is now able to track The Mandalorian and The Child thanks to some help from a spy.

Overall. A fun episode that had a nice balance of action, drama and comedy.
