Synopsis: Courtney makes a difficult decision after Pat confronts her about the consequences of recruiting new members to the JSA.
When Pat confronts Courtney about her having recruited JSA members without him and tries to talk her into taking the uniforms back from her friends. As the episode unfolds the team learns that the Gambler is hacking into a communications satellite for the Injustice League, which becomes the new JSA’s first mission. To stop the Gambler. Unfortunately for them. The Gambler has some back up in the form of Tigress and Sportsmaster.
Brec Bassinger and Luke Wilson get to build on their chemistry as we see a few funny characters beats between Courtney and Pat toward the close of the episode. Neil Hopkins and Joy Osmanski make a pretty impressive showing as Sportsmaster and Tigress who really lay into the new JSA and pretty much show them how much they need to learn. The scenes early in the episode when they threaten their daughter’s sports coach is brilliantly done.
In some of the none superhero antics. We get a cute scene in which Pat’s son Mike enters a chocolate Volcano into the school’s science fair. This leads to a fun scene in which Barbara goes to the fair and engages Mike about his creation. Both Trae Romano and Amy Smart did a nice job of selling this scene.
A pretty solid episode with a nice mix of drama and comedy as well as some very well-choreographed action beats. I loved the scene at the close of the episode where Courtney is complaining to Pat about the fact that her newly founded team will not listen to her. It was really fun how Pat uses that moment to point out that he feels exactly the same when she doesn’t listen to him. Perhaps she will do from now on as I think she now recognizes that the new JSA is up against it.
The episode closes out with a meeting of The Injustice League and their mission to find out who the new JSA members really are.
