Synopsis: How determined is Mr. Terrific to find the truth? The answer becomes more challenging as the whole world starts to turn against him. Adam Strange is a hero who can save the Earth from alien invasion, and who is Mr. Terrific to say otherwise? The extent of the denial only makes the man more suspicious.

Not that the warmongering Pykkts care one way or the other. If Strange is to be believed, they only have one thing on their minds: taking over the planet. Adam and his wife beat them back once before, and the key to doing it again is to dig into the past that Mr. Terrific is so hell-bent on destroying.

The Story

On Earth. Allanna Strange and Mr. Terrific have a long conversation about the loved ones they have lost. Allanna tells Terrific about how she and Adam lost their daughter during the war with the Pykkts. Allanna tells Mr. Terrific that the loss of their daughter changed Adam and made him more vulnerable. She also talks a little about her experiences in the war. Although he now knows that a war with the Pykkts is coming to Earth. Mr. Terrific is still determined to find out what actually happened on the planet, Rann.

Meanwhile, in the flashbacks to the war between Strange and the Pykkts we witness some of the key battles that took place, which culminate in Adam and Allanna being shot down.

The Artwork

We get some great artwork in this issue that depicts both the war on Rann as well as the present-day Earth stuff between Terrific and Allanna. I really loved the winter scenery that Mr. Terriffic and Allana were walking in. Especially good was the way in which the snow was painted.

In terms of the scenery on Rann, which depicts the war. We got a lot of good stuff right up to the final dramatic page where we see Adam Strange and Allanna laying on the ground wounded.

Overall

This was a pretty good issue overall. I liked the whole conversation between Mr. Terriffic and Allanna and how that was all juxtaposed with the flashback sequences. If there is one small criticism it would be that six issues in and we are still waiting for something big to happen on the Earth. You know like the Pykkt invasion that the writer is teasing us with.
