Synopsis: Lena’s ex-boyfriend Jack Spheer comes to National City to reveal his breakthrough in nanotechnology that has the potential to eliminate all diseases.
Review: This episode sees National City being a tad too quiet for Supergirl and it is probably because Winn and the Guardian are taking care of all the cats stuck up threes and petty crime.
Thankfully Lena Luther is standing by to present Kara and Supergirl with a problem and a means by which Kara can win herself back into the graces of Snapper Car, who for me is probably most fun character in this series.
The story sees Lena’s ex come to town with the latest miracle in medical science. Nanobots, which heal wounds.
What the world does not know is the fact that Lena’s ex injected himself with the Nanobot’s and since doing so have been used a point and shoot assassin.
The episode is more focused on Kara the investigative reporter than it is on Kara in her woman of steel guise.
This made for a nice change of pace.
It also saw Supergirl actually having to be saved, which is something we haven’t seen as yet.
The fact that Lena Luther was the one doing the saving was an added extra bit of fun. More so by virtue of the fact that we do not know if Lena will break bad and follow a similar path to her well known brother.
The stuff with Guardian and Winn was fun and it was great to see Tamzin Merchant back as Lyra. I particularly enjoyed the meltdown that Lyra has when Winn tells her that she cannot hang with him and Guardian anymore. The expressions on the faces of the onlookers was priceless.
Overall though. This felt like a filler episode to hold the viewers attention until they return to the actual story arc.
That said the end of the episode sees Teri Hatcher return as Rhea who is looking to get some payback on Supergirl via Lena Luther, which will be fun to see.
Overall. This week’s story was just alright. Not great or outstanding but kind of average.
Solid acting performances. I just wasn’t bowled over by the story.
