Synopsis: Wil and Mareth search for answers; while visiting a nearby Kingdom, King Ander seeks reinforcements and is given an ultimatum.
Review: Picking up from last week. The wraiths are in hot pursuit of Wil and Mareth who are trying to make their way to Shadyvale in order to see Wil’s Uncle. Elsewhere Lyria and Eretria are rescued by a bounty hunter who is tracking Lyria who has been hiding a royal secret.
Ander connects with Allanon who narrowly escapes his confrontation with Bandon. Meanwhile, General Riga continues his hunt for all magic users and has his sights set on Allanon. It appears Riga has an ally who is close to King Ander.
This episode sees the beginning of all the characters starting to try and reconnect with each other. Ander visits Queen Tamlin in order to try and begin an alliance to help the Elves and other races in their ongoing fight against evil. He takes Allanon with him and eventually, Eretria reconnects while seeking out Lyria who is revealed as a princess, which doesn’t impress Eretria to much.
This season looks like it is going to have a lot of plot threads to follow given that there seem to be three factions at play. Ander and his attempts to raise an army to fend off the oncoming evil. Bandon and his attempts to resurrect the Demon Lord and Riga and his quest to eradicate all magic users. Which makes Wil a huge person of interest.
We see a number of revelations in the episode from Wil’s uncle Flick who fought alongside Wil’s father and Allanon in the last war. This winds up posing an immediate danger and makes Flick a useful pawn to Bandon when he uses him to give Wil an ultimatum. Talking of ultimatums Ander gets given one by the Queen. She will only give Ander what he wants if he marries the princess.
Overall this was a solid episode, which provides a few new pieces to the puzzle that is this season’s arc. But given how it ended. I’d imagine that Eretria and Wil should link up next week given that she was making her way to Shadyvale.
