Synopsis: In the bustle of 1919 New York City, suffragette Alice Paul is framed for murder and the Time Team partners up with legendary female crime solver Grace Humiston – AKA “Mrs. Sherlock Holmes.” Together they attempt to prove Alice’s innocence in time for her to give a powerful speech that turns the tide in the passage of the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote. Back in the present, Connor Mason salvages key intel from the Rittenhouse raid.

Review: This episode sees the team tasked with preventing the murder of prominent suffragette Alice Paul, but when that plan goes wrong. The team goes to renowned crime solver Grace Humiston, who earned the name Mr. Sherlock Holmes because of the way in which she used deductive reasoning to figure stuff out.

This is a pretty solid episode, which does a great job of capturing the mood of the period and the suffragette movement. In the episode, Rittenhouse tasks Emma with the task of both killing the suffragette leader as well as taking Lucy out of the equation, but Emma winds up going against these orders because she feels that she’d not have a voice in the present day should she undermine the suffragette movement in this way. So for one time, only Emma works alongside Lucy, Rufus, Wyatt, and Flynn in order to try and keep the suffragette movement on track.

Sarah Sokolovic puts in a wonderful performance as Grace Humiston and the scenes in which Lucy and Grace are at odds about the suffragette movement and helping Alice Paul all build up to a really nice and somewhat unexpected twist at the end of the episode. Sadly the actress playing Alice Paul doesn’t really get a great deal to do, which is a shame because it would have been fun to have explored that character a little more.

Overall. This was a fun episode, which told a pretty solid story while retaining the strained relations between Lucy and Wyatt as well as the difficulty that Wyatt is having with accepting Flynn as a new team member. We also get a fun revelation about Wyatt’s wife in this episode, but its a revelation they most would likely have seen coming a mile off. So it’s nothing to get too excited about.
