Jeff Goldblum, who played the role of computer scientist David Levinson. Who had the brilliant idea of uploading windows 95 to the aliens mother ship, which lets face it is something that can pretty much crash any system – has revealed that he’ll be returning for the ‘Independence Day’ sequel.
Speaking in the new issue of Time, the actor said that he has had “a meeting” about reprising his role from the 1996 movie.
“I had a meeting and have been talking over the last several months or year with Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin, the producer,” he said, “and they’ve been cooking up and say they have a part for me in what they hope will be a plan to make another one pretty soon.”
In regards to how the film is progressing Goldblum said it was “Brewing.”
“‘Nebulous until actually’ is what that file is under, but yeah, they’re still talking about it and I’ve heard recent rumblings here and there about it, and ‘Oh, there’s a scripting coming in’. Maybe last weekend there was a script handed in, so it’s brewing.”
‘Independence Day 2’ is expected to be released on July 1, 2016, to tie in with the first film’s 20th anniversary.
