Game of Thrones fans around the world are on the one hand happy to hear that they are ever closer to the final episodes of one their favorite HBO show, while at the same time feeling sad along with the show’s stars as filming has recently been wrapping on GOT.
One the show’s biggest stars, Kit Harington who plays the break out character Jon Snow, recently told BBC Radio 2 in an interview conducted by Craig Charles, star of the British classic cult scifi show, Red Dwarf, about GOT’s final scenes being shot. Kit said, “I’ve actually just wrapped on Thursday last week.”
So fans can be sure that Harington’s scenes have now been filmed for the last time, with Kit having played the King of the North, fighting to save his people from the onslaught of Winter, never more. Bitter sweet to be sure, but also that much closer to the much anticipated end of all post production work currently going on, before the Game of Thrones final season in 2019.
The GOT actor went on to talk about the ending of GOT and his feelings about the show, “. . . it’s just been this amazing journey. I kinda said to them on my wrap speech that it’s always been more than a job. They were a family and it was my life. I’ve loved every minute of it. I’ve been quite emotional last week thinking about having ended, having finished it.”
So while the fan’s heart might be breaking a little bit, it seems as though Harrington is feeling the loss of GOT right along side the show’s fans. Apart from that however, Harrington has also been spotted having a wonderful time out in London with his new bride and GOT past costar Rose Leslie, Ygritte.
And on a fun professional note, GOT fans can also catch Kit Harington starring alongside Johnny Flynn in Sam Shepherd’s play, True West currently at the Vaudeville Theatre in London’s West End. So why not go see Harrington live while you wait for the next and last season of Game of Thrones on HBO.
