Back in May we were one of a number of sites to report the epic news of a sequel to ‘Hawk The Slayer’, which was a modest budget fantasy film from the 1980’s that had great heart and a wonderfully fun storyline. The sequel titled ‘Hawk The Hunter’ is moving closer to becoming a reality, but needs a little help from fans to raise 20% of the films budget.
Since our initial report things have moved on and Terry Marcel who wrote a directed the original film has teamed with REBELLION, one of Europe’s leading independent game developers and comic book publishers and RICK WAKEMAN, the iconic Rock Musician for the music score, Terry has inked a Studio & Post Production deal, requiring a final piece of the budget to make the movie.
Looking to his international “Hawk” fan base, Terry will launch the Kickstarter at the UK’s premier film festival ‘FRIGHTFEST’ on August 30th, when “Hawk the Slayer” will be screened to a packed audience of Sword and Sorcery fans
In the meantime to can get more news and developments on this project from www.hawkthehunter.com
The original film starred John Terry as Hawk the wielder of a powerful magic sword charged with protecting the world from his evil brother Voltan who was played by the late Jack Palance.
An aspect about the film that I really loved aside from the simplicity and fun of the story was the soundtrack, which kind of felt very much like a fantastical spaghetti western style of theme. It’s a soundtrack that really sticks in your head long after viewing the film.
