Every year the biggest celebration of all things geek, fan, and cosplay comes to Orlando Florida via MegaCon, the states most famous and only national four day show. This year MegaCon came to town from Thursday, May 24th, through Sunday, May 27th.
And just as in most years past, this year’s MegaCon did not fail to deliver a great show with something for everyone to get their geek on! This years show also had some amazing celebrity guests, such as Jason Mamoa, pictured here with the “one true cosplay Aquaman” Rick Stafford. As well as Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca/Solo), and Paul Ruebens (Pee Wee Herman), as well as Jennifer Morrison (Cpt. Kirk’s Mom), pictured here with celebrity wranglers Lissa Brown O’Rourke and Torie Varket.
MegaCon’s celebrities also treated the fans to fun Q&A sessions such as those featured here including Michael Kudlitz (Walking Dead), Jodi Benson (Voice of Little Mermaid), and Vanessa Marshall (Star Wars Rebels).
But if nothing else, one of the absolute most fun aspects of MegaCon has always been the amazing cosplay, which the convention has become quite known for, as in the following examples of large and small groups of cosplay. The first is a collection of all Marvel characters, while the second is a group of 501st and Mandalorian mercenaries posing with Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca/Solo), and lastly an amalgam of Disney characters with other genres.
This years con attendants deserve a slew of credit for their amazing costuming such as these Bat-cosplayers.
There were also amazing props and vehicles at the con that really turned attendees heads such as Eugene Haggerty’s Doctor Who area complete with a Tardis, several Daleks and even K-9. Cosplaying Heroes raising money also had an ingenious 1960’s Bat-climbing building scene, there was also an amazing Bat-mobile, along with an ingenious Star Trek Constitution class bridge for attendees to command.
You can always count on running into fun and smart variations on everyone’s favorite mutant mercenary named Deadpool.
A fun and loving cosplay is always families coming to the convention together in a unified theme, because those families that cosplay together stay together.
MegaCon of course had great Marvel based cosplaying costumes.
And MegaCon also had great DC based cosplaying costumes.
Of course we can’t forget all of those space based cosplayers.
Then there are those special cosplaying images that just have a special place in my fan’s heart like cosplaying friends, as well as my family members who came with me to the convention, or just cosplayers that really caught my attention. But all in all, one of my favorite things to do at MegaCon is just to walk around and enjoy GREAT cosplay!
